Take some time and read through Mark 1 when Jesus begins his ministry.
Go back over it again and stop at verse 35. It's one verse in the midst of a very active section of scripture that includes, demon possession, healing, leper cleansing, and an entire city being brought to Jesus for help. Yet right here, we see Jesus rising early, going out to be alone and praying.
In the midst of craziness, in the preparation of big things Christ shows the importance of solitude. Of being alone, of getting in touch with, exploring, and enhancing our deep inner life, where we become attentive to our inner selves and to God.
Challenge yourself to unplug, to take a Sabbath from your phone, your homework, your studying, your worrying, your conversations, your list, everything and spend time in solitude. Just you and God.
You don't need it to be an hour or a weekend, start small. Just a few minutes. Purposefully pick a place to be alone at and just sit. Sit with God, clear your mind, and just be still. I promise you the world will keep spinning, things will still be happening, and stuff will still be there waiting to get done, but make this a priority (If it was easy it wouldn't be a challenge) and see what happens. See what God does with just a few moments of solitude between you and him.
