HE looks upon us... always

Hi Guys,

Alex here.

I know that the beginning of the school year can be a crazy and overwhelming time. BUT just know that you are being molded into the people God wants you to be and sometimes that means having crazy seasons of life. For those of you reading this, I hope to encourage and affirm you while you pursue the things that the Lord has put on your hearts and for you to challenge those around you, forming a Community of Christ-minded individuals. What an awesome Community that would be huh? :)

I recently picked up a book called "Soul Keeping" by John Ortberg, an awesome read that brings to light something that I often forget to do--feed my soul. I say that not with the intention to sound like a hippy but merely to bring up the fact that sometimes I forget that I'm more than just flesh and bone. Concerning the soul, Ortberg quotes, "You're a soul made by God, made for God, and made to need God, which means you were not made to be self-sufficient". We were never made to look to ourselves for guidance or understanding but ONLY to the Lord, the creator of your soul. Why do we forget this and why do we feel that we are in control of what happens?

Ortberg ends his chapter with a good story to take throughout your day in the hallways of your school. He writes,"about a tiny child who crept into his father's bedroom to sleep. In the dark, knowing his father was present was enough to take away his sense of aloneness. 'Is your face turned toward me toward me, Father?' he would ask 'Yes' his father replied. 'My face is turned toward you.' Only then could the child go to sleep". Although we may feel that we are taking life on alone, remember that we are constantly in the presence of our Father and we have comfort in the darkness of our lives that His face us turned toward us.

Please leave comments below! We are interested in what you all have to say.
